Earth Science Unit - The Water Cycle

Week 22: The kids found ways to convert ice, water and steam to counterpart states.

Bill Nye the Science Guy has a fabulous video on the water cycle. We watched it along with reading The Magic School Bus Wet All Over: A Book About The Water Cycle.

Then I challenged the kids to find ways to convert water. Here's what they came up with.

Converting water to steam by breathing on the window.

Creating a cloud by putting hot water in a glass and covering it so the steam could not escape.

Converting steam to water by covering hot water and putting ice on the top to create a greater temperature difference and increase the speed of condensation.

Most of the ideas were discussed in the video, so it was good to see them making connections.
