Orange Trees

Orange, lemon and grapefruit trees grow in Greece. It is a southern country on the Mediterranean Sea with a warm climate. I think my children's favorite part of Greece was the trees.

Learning about different climates and ecosystems can be a fun part of science. We used to live in Colorado which was very hot and dry. Now we live in Germany which is mild and good for growing many foods. The temperature ranges from about 20 degrees F - 45 degrees F in the winter and 65 degrees F - 80 degrees F in the summer. The kids easily see the differences in the two climates.

When we travel the children are often fascinated by the new plants and animals they see and quickly discern that the area has yet another climate they have not encountered. We talked about how citrus trees also grow well in Florida and California. I think Lewis and Clarke had the same type of excitement when exploring the American West.
