Jemma received her first chemo treatment today. Since it can cause very bad constipation, the doctors have been keeping close track of her bowel movements. She is on tons of medications already, and I'm hoping she won't have to add a stool softener to the list. Therefore I have been feeding her lots of foods to make her go. Today she had prune juice, salads, carrots and blueberries in addition to the meat, potatoes and bread served in the hospital. For dinner we had another treat. Thank you Susan for the awesome salad and chicken. The three of us ate almost all of it. So far the high fiber diet is working. She went three times today.
We were hoping to go outside again after lunch, but had to wait a few extra hours because of the chemo treatment. Luckily she was finished by 3:00 and we were able to go out for a little while. Again she had lots of energy, but unfortunately her leg was hurting her. The doctors said that is a very typical complaint for a child with Leukemia.
Sorry this update is so late. Jemma has been talking my ear off and asking all kinds of random questions. One of them was about dinosaurs. So today during her chemo treatment we watched a Youtube video from the history channel about dinosaurs. Apparently I have an internet limit here at the hospital and that 45 minute movie used up a large portion of my allowance. I lost the internet at 2:00 this afternoon while Jemma was taking a nap and it wasn't reset again until midnight. - We both enjoyed the movie.
