More on St. Martin's Day

St. Martin's Day festivals are arranged by the local preschools. They are attended by parents, grandparents and children in the school, as well as by former students with their families and other community members. The entire festival lasts a few hours and serves as another opportunity to promote community togetherness and friendship while celebrating common traditions.
Children march in a procession carrying both homemade and store-bought lanterns on a short walk through the town.
Upon arriving at the destination children meet with their preschool and sing Saint Martin's Day songs for the others at the festival.
The local music club plays St. Martin's Day songs.
Then a huge fire is lit.
Traditional sweet bread St. Martin's Day pretzels are eaten.
